In the early and middle of ХIX century, not everything was known about the interior of Africa. Livingston was the first white man who visit the inside of Africa and cross the Black continent from West to East. His journeys began when he went to North from the Cape Province, to Lake Ngami, together with one of the best hunters, who paid all the expenses of that journey, in 1849. The big lake Ngami was the purpose of the journey and the first object, which it mapped by Livingstone. Livingston repeated the journey with his wife Mary а year later. In the first time Livingstone was applied to map the rivers that began in the center of the African continent, flowing into the Indian (Zambezi) and Atlantic (Congo) oceans. Livingstone's notes were enthusiastically accepted in London and he was allowed to the Royal geographical society. The expedition arrived the coast of the Indian Ocean in May 1856. Africa has been crossed.
